Western Refrigeration Pvt. Ltd. is one of India’s leading commercial refrigeration solution providers serving retail chains, food processing units, and cold storage ecosystems across the country. With operations spanning multiple offices, manufacturing facilities, and enterprise applications, the organization required a secure and reliable AWS environment capable of supporting growing business operations and SAP workloads.

Business ChallengeAs the AWS environment expanded, the organization faced increasing challenges related to secure inter-location connectivity, infrastructure reliability, workload availability, and operational governance. Maintaining high availability for SAP and business-critical workloads, optimizing AWS infrastructure costs, strengthening security controls, and improving monitoring visibility became critical operational requirements. The organization required a managed services partner capable of delivering proactive monitoring, governance-driven cloud operations, infrastructure optimization, and long-term operational support.

Goals & ObjectivesThe objective was to strengthen infrastructure reliability, establish secure hybrid connectivity across locations, improve workload availability, optimize operational costs, and build a scalable governance-driven AWS operating model.

Solution ApproachPentagon designed and implemented a structured AWS Managed Services framework focused on secure connectivity, operational stability, monitoring, governance, and infrastructure optimization. A segmented Amazon VPC architecture was deployed with controlled network traffic flow to improve workload isolation and security. Secure AWS Site-to-Site VPN connectivity was established between AWS and the customer’s office and plant locations to enable seamless communication with cloud-hosted applications. Elastic Load Balancing was implemented to improve workload distribution, availability, and infrastructure resilience for SAP and enterprise applications. Additional enhancements included infrastructure health monitoring, optimized workload placement strategies, and fault-tolerant configurations. To improve cost efficiency, Pentagon introduced Reserved Instance planning, AWS Savings Plans, infrastructure utilization analysis, and removal of underutilized resources.

Implementation ApproachDatabase and storage environments were optimized using Amazon RDS performance improvements, structured backup policies, and Amazon S3 lifecycle management strategies balancing accessibility, retention, and cost optimization. Security and governance were strengthened through AWS KMS encryption, AWS Secrets Manager, Security Groups, and Network ACL controls. Operational visibility was enhanced using Amazon CloudWatch dashboards, proactive monitoring, customized alerting mechanisms, and governance-driven operational practices.

Results

The managed services engagement significantly improved infrastructure reliability, operational governance, and hybrid connectivity across the customer’s AWS environment. The organization achieved secure and stable connectivity between business locations and AWS-hosted workloads while improving SAP application availability and operational continuity. Cost optimization initiatives improved infrastructure efficiency and reduced unnecessary AWS spending. Enhanced monitoring and proactive alerting strengthened operational visibility, enabling faster issue detection and improved incident response. The result was a scalable, secure, and governance-driven AWS operating model capable of supporting nationwide business operations and long-term growth.
