As the business experienced rapid growth in customer acquisition and loan transactions, the organization required a scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure capable of supporting increasing workloads while enabling real-time business intelligence.

Business Challenge

  • With growing transaction volumes and increasing customer demand, EarlySalary needed to modernize its lending platform to improve scalability, operational efficiency, and business visibility.
  • The existing architecture processed transactional and reporting workloads on the same database environment, creating performance bottlenecks and resource contention during peak loan application periods.
  • Business users relied heavily on manual reporting processes, resulting in delayed visibility into customer acquisition, loan approvals, operational performance, and business KPIs.

Goals & Objectives

  • The primary objective was to build a scalable and secure cloud-native lending platform capable of handling growing application traffic while separating operational and analytical workloads.
  • The organization also aimed to automate reporting, deliver near real-time business insights, improve database performance, strengthen disaster recovery capabilities, and enhance security across the lending ecosystem.

Solution Approach

  • Pentagon System & Services designed and deployed a highly available AWS architecture centered around Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, and Amazon QuickSight.
  • The lending application was hosted on Amazon EC2 behind an Application Load Balancer with Auto Scaling Groups deployed across multiple Availability Zones, enabling the platform to automatically scale based on user demand while maintaining application availability.
  • To improve performance and workload isolation, separate Amazon RDS databases were implemented for transactional loan processing and operational reporting. This segregation significantly reduced resource contention while improving database responsiveness.
  • AWS Glue automated the extraction, transformation, and processing of operational datasets before storing curated information in Amazon S3 for analytical workloads.
  • Amazon QuickSight was integrated to deliver interactive dashboards that provided business teams with near real-time visibility into customer demographics, loan approvals, underwriting performance, operational KPIs, and lending trends.

Implementation Approach

  • The production environment was designed with high availability and resilience using Multi-AZ Amazon RDS deployments, Read Replicas, and Amazon S3 Cross-Region Replication to ensure business continuity.
  • Security was strengthened using AWS WAF, AWS IAM, AWS KMS encryption, Amazon VPC, VPC Endpoints, AWS CloudTrail, and AWS CloudWatch, providing secure access control, encryption, monitoring, and complete auditability.
  • AWS Systems Manager, Amazon SNS, Route 53, CloudFormation, and Site-to-Site VPN were deployed to automate infrastructure management, operational monitoring, secure connectivity, and infrastructure provisioning.
