Job Summary:The L2 VMware & Windows Administrator is responsible for day-to-day operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of virtualized environments and Windows server infrastructure. This role provides second-level (L2) support, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of critical systems while collaborating with L1 support and senior engineers.Key Responsibilities:
VMware / Virtualization.
Monitor and manage VMware vSphere/ESXi clusters, vCenter Server, and virtual machines.
Perform VM provisioning, migration (vMotion/Storage vMotion), snapshots, and resource allocation.
Troubleshoot performance, capacity, and configuration issues in virtual environments.
Implement backup, recovery, and replication strategies for VMs.
Windows Server Administration.
Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) OS and roles such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and File Services.
Apply patches, service packs, and security updates.
Monitor and troubleshoot hardware, OS, and application-level issues.
Operations & Support.
Act as the escalation point for L1 support for incidents, service requests, and problem tickets.
Maintain system documentation, change records, and standard operating procedures.
Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours maintenance windows as required.
Security & Compliance.
Enforce server hardening, antivirus/endpoint protection, and security best practices.
Support audits, backups, disaster recovery drills, and compliance requirements (ISO, ITIL, etc.).Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience: 5-7 years in Windows Server and VMware administration (L2 level).
Technical Skills:
VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter
Windows Server 2016/2019/2022
Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP
Backup/restore tools (Veeam, Commvault, etc.)
PowerShell scripting (basic to intermediate)
Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage, networking basics (TCP/IP, VLANs).
Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and documentation skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have:Certifications: VMware VCP, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server/Hybrid Administrator, ITIL Foundation
